It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
